Been away from Deviant Art for some time, other than to favourite a few things and leave the odd comment, so I'm not sure if anyone will even notice this journal entry. I've been busy writing and not producing much visual over the past few years. That is not to say I haven't produced any, and I should share some of the best, but rather my main focus has been on my writing.

In 2013 the book 'Chemical Serpents', a collaboration between my writing and the art and illustration of JaniceDuke was published by WhIP (When Illuminated Press). We're both quite excited about it. You can find out more here:

Over on kiamagic.com, a non-hierarchical networking site for occulture and stuff like that, I've started a project for a collaborative book to contain articles, rituals, poetry, artwork, illustration, comic strips and short stories on the themes of chaos, alchemy, magic, sorcery, mysticism, anarchy and stuff like that.  At least thats the seed of the idea.  Its community project so we'll see how it evolves.  It's still in its formative stages right now so now is a good time to get involved if this idea appeals to you as you can help shape what it will be.

To participate you'll need an account on kiamagic.com, which is currently invitation only, but send me a note with your email address and I'll get you an invite.  Alternatively you can just use the invite code of 'Kaos Hieroglyphica', the name of my first book.

I got so behind on my DA journal reading that I just deleted them all without looking at them.  There were 73 in all.  I just felt overwhelmed by it all.  Feels good to have deleted them to be honest.  I don't mean to have ignored you all lately.

Anyway, I've released yet another blog on my serpent.antonchanning.com site:

Ever wondered what my musical taste was really like?

What I'm really listening to?

Well, now you can find out, as I am slowly creating a last.fm playlist.

and more recently I decided to 'doll up' a little for my local rock club... www.deviantart.com/deviation/6…

Quite a contrast between the two looks me thinks! :D

Anyway, thought I'd let you all know the photos were there to look at, because I know not many people look in scraps... :)

St. Baphomet's 23rd Gnostic Church of Mary the Sorceress and Holy Harlot

If Your Child is a Christian, Reform Through Gnosis!

Listed below are some warning signs to indicate if your child may have gone astray and turned to the evil ways of Christianity.

Christianity (or church) is a very obscure and often dangerous culture that young teenagers are prone to participating in. The Christian culture leads young, susceptible minds into an imagined world of evil, darkness, and violence. Please seek immediate attention through enchantment, divination, and consulting the dead to rid your child of Christ's temptations if five or more of the following are applicable to your child:

- Frequently wears white clothing.
- Never wears band, rock or any other kind of black t-shirts.
- Never wears any kind of make-up, lipstick or nail polish.
- Wears any odd, jewellery or symbols. Some of these include:
crosses, crucifixes (crosses with a nearly naked man violently nailed to it), 'Jesus fish', Ichthys or vesica piscis,  various other Christian worshipping symbols.
- Shows no interest in piercings or tattoos.
- Listens to hymns, country and western, church choirs or any other anti-social genres of music. (For example, 'Onwards Christian Soldiers' a hymn that incites young impressionable minds to destroy all things not part of their cult.)
- Associates with other people that dress, act or speak boringly.
- Shows a declining interest in wholesome activities, such as: Reading Occult Books, Sorcery, Partying or Sex.
- Shows an increasing interest in God, churches, prayer, miracles, saints or anything else that involves Christ.
- Refuses drugs.
- Becomes teetotal.
- Is suicidal and/or depressed.
- Cuts, burns or partakes in any other method of self-mutilation. (This is a Christian ritual that uses pain and damage to the body to deny reality and bring the cult member closer to the delusion of Christ. Please seek immediate attention for this at your local mental health centre.)
- Becomes completely boring to be around.
- Wakes up excessively early and overly cheerfully.
- Goes to bed early.
- Dislikes/fears night time or any other form of darkness. (This pertains to Christians promoting the idea that darkness is somehow evil.)
- Demands an unusual amount of privacy.
- Spends large amounts of time alone.
- Requests time alone and quietness. (This is so that your child may speak to evil spirits (angels, saints, even Christ himself) through prayer.)
- Insists on spending time with friends while unaccompanied by an adult.
- Places blind faith in authority figures; teachers, priests, nuns and elders are but a few examples of this.
- Always behaves at school.
- Always behaves at home.
- Eats no meat on Fridays.  Sometimes avoid pork altogether.  Some even go vegetarian.
- Eats Christ-related foods. Hot cross buns and Eucharistic hosts are an example of this.
- Drinks blood of Christ or expresses an interest in drinking blood of Christ. (Christians believe this is how to attain the grace of Christ. This act is very dangerous and should be stopped immediately.)
- Watches televangelists or any other corrupted media sources. (Consult your tarot/runes/i ching for proper guidance on which programs that your child should watch.)
- Is too sacred to plays videos games that contains violence or role-playing nature.
- Doesn't seem to use the internet and frequently avoids making time for the computer.
- Makes Christian symbols to music.
- Dances to music in a stiff or non-sexual manner.
- Expresses no interest in sex.
- Does not masturbate.
- Is homophobic.
- Thinks all spiritual movements other than Christianity are dangerous cult religions. Such include: Satanism, Scientology, Philosophy, Paganism, Wicca, Hinduism and Buddhism.
- Wears pins, stickers or anything else that contains these various phrases: "Jesus Saves!", "I love Jesus", "Born Again".
- Claims to be a Christian.

If five or more of these apply to your child, please intervene immediately. The Christian culture is dangerous and God thrives within it. If any of these problems persist, put a hex on your child until they see sense.

DISCLAIMER
If this parody journal offends any Christians, I don't give a shit.  You guys started it.

The Rules of this Tagging Game

The 1st player of this "game" starts with the topic "6 weird habits/facts/dislikes about yourself"
and people who get tagged must write in their journals about their 6 weird habits/facts/dislikes as well as state this rule clearly.

In the end, you need to choose the next 6 people to be tagged and list to their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says "you're tagged" in their deviant page comments and tell them to read yours.

1) I am a bisexual polyamorous man who sometimes likes to cross dress and who once considered surgery to become a hermaphrodite, but who eventually decided he was happy as a man. Fact
2) I work a senior programmer doing php, sql (oracle, mssql, mysql), css, html, javascript, ajax. Fact.
3) I'm currently single and alone. Dislike. (But don't feel sorry for me, its only been a few months.)
4) My favourite breakfast is toast with crab cocktail and lemon juice, second being fruit with natural yogurt. Fact.
5) I like my steak blue. Fact.
6) I used to have habits, but I gave them all up. :P Fact.

Okay, so I only got one dislike and no habits.  What can I say, I'm pretty happy with the way I am except for one small detail, which I'm working on.

I have no idea who actually reads this journal, so I could try and tag six watchers, but they might not read this.  So instead I'm going to simply tag the first 6 people to respond to this.  Hopefully someone will :P

I saw harmonic-discordia post this a while back.  I saved it for a rainy day because she was posting far too many of these things at the time for me to keep up.  Basically you pick 12 characters from your fandoms, number them randomly from 1 to 12, and answer the questions in this quiz. :D

(Warning: Some of my fandoms may be a little obscure or weird... )

01) Ponder Stibbons (Various Discworld Novels)
02) Ayanah (PAWN)
03) Elinore (Wizards 1977)
04) Zintiel (Flaky Pastry)
05) Eris (From Greek myth, Illuminatus! trilogy and Sinbad 2003)
06) Menyssan (Succubus character by Karbo)
07) Eddie (Edward T Head, mascot of Iron Maiden)
08) Arachne (Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic)
09) Promethea (From the Alan Moore graphic novels of the same name.)
10) Baalal (PAWN)
11) Cynicallia (Goat demon character by cynicallia)
12) Nitrine (Flaky Pastry)

1. Who would make a better college professor, 6 (Menyssan) or 11 (Cynicallia)? What subjects would they teach?
Um.  This is a tough one.  Menyssan would just eat all the students.  Cynicallia would probably also eat them, but only if she felt like it.  She might be able to teach 'dark arts' and 'demonology' if she felt like it...

2. Do you think 4 (Zintiel) is hot? How hot?
Um.  Yeah, but I wouldn't say that within earshot of her.  No telling what she might do!

3. 12 (Nitrine) sends 8 (Arachne) on a mission. What is it, and does it succeed?
Now, I don't think it would succeed for the simple reason that if Nitrine dared try and send Arachne on a mission, Arachne would have her locked naked in a bird cage quicker than you could ask the rest of the question...

4. What is or would be 9 (Promethea)'s favorite book?
This is an interesting question, because Promethea is a character that exists in the Immateria, also she is able to manifest in the real world via human avatars.  Typically the avatars summon her by writing stories, poems and comics about her.  So I would say those books used to create and keep her alive are Promethea's favourite books.  Weird, but this is Alan Moore's creation we are talking about... :mwahaha:

5. Would it make more sense for 2 (Ayanah) to swear fealty to 6 (Menyssan), or the other way around?
This is a toughy.  Ayanah wouldn't swear fealty to Menyssan.  I'm sure Menyssan would just eat her given the chance.  If Ayanah had to, she might try and win Menyssan's fealty through the same device she captured the demon Baalal, through a game of chess, but it would be a lot tougher to beat Menyssan this way than it was Baalal...

6. For some reason, 5 (Eris) is looking for a roommate. Should s/he share a studio apartment with 9 (Promethea) or with 10 (Baalal)?
The thought of Eris and Baalal teaming up to share a studio apartment, a fire demon and goddess of chaos and discord, is just begging for things to go wrong.  Not that it would bother either of them.  Eris and Promethea on the other hand would be an interesting coupling.  Chaotic good instead of chaotic evil...

7. 2 (Ayanah), 7 (Eddie) and 12 (Nitrine) have dinner together. Where do they go, and what do they discuss?
It would probably be some dusty old tavern on the road somewhere.  The kind that sells really homey meals at cheap prices and serves them with ale.  Ayanah would probably get bored as Eddie and Nitrine talk about motorbike engines all evening.  And thats if Eddie doesn't kill anyone...

8. 3 (Elinore) challenges 10 (Baalal) to a duel. What happens?
Well, the only way I see that as a possibility is if Elinore tried the same thing Ayanah did.  Which was a duel by playing chess.  Only being less intelligent, Elinore would have lost.  Her soul.

9. If 1 (Ponder Stibbons) stole 8 (Arachne)'s most precious possession, how would s/he get it back?
Hmm.  Someone did steal Arachne's most precious possession in the YAFGC strips.  She isn't someone to mess with.  But then she never got her possession back either.  Although she did win something in compensation.  Whether she would brave Ankh-Morpork's Unseen University to try and steal one of its wizards is another matter.  On the other hand the only way Ponder Stibbons is ever likely to be able to steal something from Arachne is if one of his experiments goes wrong.  An accidental theft as it were... :D

10. Suggest a title for a story in which 7 (Eddie) and 12 (Nitrine) both attain what they most desire.
"Steel, Leather and a long road to Hell."

11. What kind of plot device would you use if you wanted 4 (Zintiel) and 1 (Ponder Stibbons) to work together?
Poor Ponder would have to have got himself involved in something a little out of his depth...

12. If 7 (Eddie) visited you for the weekend, how would you get along?
I dunno, I reckon if I put on my Iron Maiden records on repeat it'd probably keep him happy and may just stop him trying to kill me...

13. If you could command 3 (Elinore) to perform any one task or service for you, what would it be?
:mwahaha: Sorry I can't think of a clean answer for this one.  Actually, it would probably be to kneel quietly and let me put a slave collar on her...

14. Does anyone on your friends list write or draw 11 (Cynicallia)?
Well, cynicallia herself obviously.  I don't think anyone else has.  If they did I missed it.

15. If 2 (Ayanah) had to choose sides between 4 (Zintiel) and 5 (Eris), which would it be?
Oh gosh.  A virgin scholar choose sides between a chaotic high elf and the goddess of chaos herself?  It would all really depend on what was at stake...

16. What might 10 (Baalal) shout while charging into battle?
I don't think battle is quite her thing.  Taunting her opponent and then killing them maybe.  Mostly though people just run...

17. If you chose a song to represent 8 (Arachne), which song would you choose?
Hmm.  Not easy.  Queensrÿche 'The Lady Wore Black' might suffice...

18. 1 (Ponder Stibbons), 6 (Menyssan), and 12 (Nitrine) are having dim sum at a Chinese restaurant. There is only one scallion pancake left, and they all reach for it at the same time. Who gets to eat it?
Menyssan.  Right before she eats all the waiting staff, other customers and even her dinner guests if they don't get away in time.  Of course, how she managed to fit inside the restaurant is another matter.  Maybe Ponder worked out how to summon her in a more managable size!  Still wouldn't mess with her though...

19. What might be a good pick-up line for 2 (Ayanah) to use on 10 (Baalal)?
*Laughs!* Well I guess we'll find out when the PAWN comics are finished!  Something tells me it won't be too difficult...

20. What would 5 (Eris) most likely be arrested for?
Possession of Cannabis with intent to supply.  She'd escape obviously, and the cops involved would find themselves under an inexplicable pile of paperwork for the next 5 years and 23 months...

21. What is 6 (Menyssan)'s secret?
She is simply happy and content with her place in hell eating souls.  She has a job she enjoys!

22. If 11 (Cynicallia) and 9 (Promethea) were racing to a destination, who would get there first?
That is so not a fair question.  Who wins in a race between a demon and an astral being that exists only in the Immateria?  Depends where they are racing I guess...

23. If you had to walk home through a bad neighbourhood late at night, would you feel safer in the company of - 7 (Eddie) or 8 (Arachne)?
Well, either way I doubt anyone would give us any trouble.  My only concern would be whether Eddie or Arachne gave *me* trouble.  Actually no, I think Arachne would be safer on the grounds she has no interest in men. Although she might try and capture me and sell me on as a slave to someone else.  Depends on how much she thought I might be worth I suppose!  Eddie I have more serious concerns about...

If you value freedom, forget M$ and install Ubuntu or another Linux distro.  Avoid SuSE if you can because of M$ connections via Novell.  I use Ubuntu, its very good.  Very easy to install.  Check this out:

Also, if you are going to buy a PC from somewhere like Dell, its worth baring in mind that Dell now sell PCs with Ubuntu pre-loaded.

Just a bit of fun imagining what I would be like as a force user in the star wars universe.

In an interview with the BBC, George Lucas says, "Jedi Knights aren't celibate - the thing that is forbidden is attachments - and possessive relationships."

Now to me this is close, but no cigar.  Cool, I am allowed sex.  I can dig that.  Celibacy sucks as far as I'm concerned.  And I hate possessive relationships also.  Sentient beings are sovereign individuals not owned by anyone.  I am not against monogamy, so long as it is not possessive.  In other words, two sovereign individuals can make compact to only engage sexually with each if thats what they want to do, but they remain sovereign individuals and not each others property.  So fine, I can agree with that also.

But this attachments thing is bugging me.  You mean I wouldn't be able to form emotional connection with my sexual partners?  You mean I wouldn't be able to LOVE them?  That it would just be disconnected recreational sex?  Not that I'm against recreational sex, but, no loving connection?  Not EVER?

Sorry, I'm outa there!  Sounds too much like Bhuddist transcendentalism to me...

The Jedi Code:
'    There is no emotion; there is peace.
There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.
There is no passion; there is serenity.
There is no death; there is the Force.'

I cannot abide by any philosophy that suppresses and denies emotion and passion.

What is more, that whole fear of the dark side seems a little out of balance to me.  Also, politically, they seem to be clueless, seeming content to support and help a horribly bureaucratic and corporate dominated republic and actively support the prohibition of narcotics (as seen in one of the first

So this leaves the Sith.  Now, I know what you're thinking (or do I?), aren't the Sith a bunch of fascists.  Maybe a lot are, I don't know.  Certainly the ones you see in the films are.  And certainly the origin of the name Dark Lord of the Sith (from when the original darksiders took over the Sithm a race of primitive peoples skilled in the force ) also reflects an authoritarian attitude.

However, I've been thinking and what I have thought is this...

...the desire for power is really the desire to be able to live your life the way you want to, free from others telling you what you can and can't do.  This is the quest for Sovereignty.  This can go one of two ways.  The first is the quick and foolish path, which is to crave the very top position of political power and make that power absolute.  It is quick, because it does not require working with others to fix the ills of society, it is foolish, because the strength of the Sith lies in darkness and remaining hidden from the Jedi.  Attaining positions of political power is likely to attract attention.  And also, there is always the danger your Sith Apprentice will become more powerful than you, rebel and snuff you.

The other path for the Sith requires courage and strength, but is actually more wise.  And that is to work in the anarchist underbelly of society, spreading a philosophy of love, passion and feeling, partying it up with cool rebelious music, and all the trappings of counter culture...

Probably they work to undermine the Empires of the Sith as much as they seek to undermine the Republics of the Jedi, both are corrupt authoritarian systems that deny freedom and Individual Sovereignty.

Finally, I leave you with The Sith Code:
'    Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
    Through passion, I gain strength.
    Through strength, I gain power.
    Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
    The Force shall free me.'

Join with me on the Dark Side, and we will PARTY!  Only when sovereignty has been attained for all, will we see what sovereignty really means...
